Speed beats distance for heart health

This will make you a happy bunny. Scientists have found that sprinting protects your heart better than making an extra effort with distance running. They examined the effects of intense exercise compared to endurance in two groups of runners.
After seven weeks both showed equivalent improvements against cardiovascular disease risks. But the total exercise time for the steady runners was six times higher than that of the sprinters, making sprints a time-efficient way of improving heart health and fitness.
Team University of the West of Scotland
Subjects 47 male, 10 female runners
Test 21 exercise sessions, split by distance to determine impact on cardiovascular health
